sculpture requires a much slower firing schedule over a few days. i consider sculpture a story, a story leading to a moment in time, we will look at considerations for expressing emotion, and feelings. we are going to work at approaching our work from a state of becoming immersed in the piece emotionally as well as the technical considerations working with clay.  I encourage students to consider what they would like to to sculpt, individual pieces are limited to max 12 x 12 x 12 as a guideline. but is flexible with in reason.
6 classes total, projects will progress over a 7 week period, you will find being able to take your piece home to take care of during the week is an advantage.  Students are welcome to come friday evenings for a drop in fee of 15.00.
we will cover, sculpting and hollowing out.  using forms, using armature, and stuffing,
bringing life and motion into a still figure, animate, what is the story? size considerations, finishing consideration.
clay limitations, and benefits, different types of clay,
firing proceedures
finishing options. a large selection of underglazes, stains and glazes are available. if you have specific requirements we can discuss and students are welcome to purchase their own from the pottery supply store.
This will be the only sculpture class offered until the new year.
Must have 3 students for the class to run, maximum 4 students. 1 bag of clay firing and finishing included. I can not accommodate free make up classes. If you would like your own private class, fees are 60.00 an hour.

all students are expected to clean up space, tools and equipment they have used prior to leaving.
